Vintage Gothic Black Painted Writing Bureau with Fall Front

This is a handsome antique writing bureau which dates to the early 20th century. Made of oak and mixed woods it is quite. Solid and well made and is ideal for an office or study. It will make a nice alternative to a traditional desk and is a useful work space for any home, perfect for working on a laptop. The bureau is simply styled, the top fitted with a fall front which opens to reveal a fitted interior with pigeon holes and a small a drawer for storing stationery and correspondence.

Below the top section are three spacious drawers finished with drop handles set on decorative back plates. The bureau is set on bracket feet and the drawers and fall front have decoratively strung inlays.

I have hand painted this piece in my own mix of water based black paint. The paintwork has been waxed for protection and has a smooth low sheen finish. The bureau is in solid structural condition with various cosmetic marks of age and use.

There are some old inactive wood worm holes to the side panels, the front left hand foot has been repaired and there are various small areas of the decorative inlays missing. There is no key present for the locks. You are welcome to collect in person or we can arrange a courier. Due to the size and weight of this item help to unload will be required.
