Vintage Gothic Black Painted Writing Bureau with Fall Front, Lockable drawers

This is a handsome antique writing bureau which dates to the early 20th century. Made of oak and mixed woods it is quite.

Solid and well made and is ideal for an office or study. It will make a nice alternative to a traditional desk and is a useful work space for any home, perfect for stowing away a laptop. The bureau is simply styled, the top fitted with a fall front which opens to reveal a fitted interior with pigeon holes and small a drawer for stationery and correspondence. Below the top section are three spacious drawers finished with drop handles set on decorative back plates.

The drawers are lockable and the key is present. The bureau is set a stretchered base. I have hand painted this piece in my own mix of chalk based black painted before lightly distressing the finish for a gently aged look. The paintwork has been waxed for protection and has a smooth low sheen finish. Width-76cms at the top, 78cms at the base.

The bureau is in solid structural condition with various cosmetic marks of age and use. There are some old inactive wood worm holes to the right hand side panel, back of the bureau and a few to the top right hand side of the top.
