Oak porch - THE'BRABOURNE'. FULL OF CURVES AND STYLE. Our solid green oak frames are hand crafted and traditionally built to last, with large feature front curved jowl posts cut from large solid 250 x 150mm oak. We use draw dowels so all the joints pull in tight on final installation with the use of the tapered, oak pegs provided in the kit. The main uprights at the front and rear are 150mm x 150mm where they meet the dwarf wall and are all jointed to a solid 150mm wide sole plate timber.
Across the front elevation we cut a graceful curved tie beam from large section oak. This gives the porch real elegance and creates a feature entrance. The roof timbers are also in 100 x 50mm solid oak and are fixed with the supplied hex screws onto the large oak ridge beam. We can build the porch to your dimensions as required and can accommodate a variety of designs, whether you are looking for a simple canopy or larger porch to incorporate bench seating or glazing etc.
The photos in the listing show examples of a few of the porches we have constructed and supplied to customers, we have many more photo examples and testimonies from happy customers also. We have a very simple pdf file available that identifies key measurements required for your build...

Oak of course protects itself so there is no need to treat further, unless it is aesthetic - some customers like the oiled look. It is important to ensure any oil used has no varnish content. Our standard roof pitch is 45degrees and the kit is designed to be placed on 900mm dwarf brickwork wall, which wold give you approx 2100mm walk in but we can adjust measurements and also pitch as required to suit your design. It is possible for us to add extra side detail with another curved brace and more spindles as required, we do make a charge to build these into your frame. At 1500mm depth from wall the Brabourne looks fantastic with 2 curved braces and 3 spindles to the sides. We are also able to add sprockets to the roof line to give an elegant flick to the end of the roof if required. Typically, most frames are not to the listing exact size and specification so it is really important that we discuss measurements and required pitch etc with you before placing an order with us.
