Antique Chinese Heavily Carved Hardwood Glazed Display Cabinet Bookcase Cupboard

Collection from Inwardleigh, nr Okehampton, Devon. NB: The glass is perfectly clear and in good condition but you can see my gravel drive reflected in some photos.

Is for a beautiful Heavily Carved Oriental Style Hardwood Glazed Display Cabinet/Bookcase with Cupboard under. I believe Chinese in origin, probably in Mahogany or similar and most likely dating from the earlier part of last century. Stands on heavily carved curved feet with intricately carved borders to the front and sides of the cabinet.

Large heavily and deeply carved panels to each side, each with 2 further carved panels under and carved panels to the lower. Doors giving 8 carved panels in total.

Double doors to the separate base cupboard and glazed double doors to the main cabinet which has 2 removable shelves in addition to the base. All doors have heavily carved handles, brass hinges and working'ball' catches. One cabinet door has 2 internal brass catches while the other has a brass lock but no key.

Wide curved edges to the top. Minor marks and fading from age and use, beautiful substantial and sturdy period piece in good Antique condition. 92cm across the main cabinet, 100cm at widest across the feet. Gaps between the shelves 32cm, 23cm & 28.5cm from top to bottom. Please view my other items.
